Introducing Nidec’s Latest Product Development, Smart-FLEXWAVE

The Smart-FLEXWAVE integrates our Next Generation Nidec FLEXWAVE sensing technology with strain wave gear reduction mechanisms, creating the world’s lightest and thinnest smart reducer. The Smart-FLEXWAVE is suitable for mechanical drive systems in applications requiring torque control typically used in robotics, aerospace, medical devices, and precision equipment.

The Smart-FLEXWAVE features an integrated sensor that detects output torque and internal temperature of the reducer. It maximizes manufacturing and automation capabilities, giving the all-around edge in process control, efficiency, optimization, and safety for your most demanding applications.

The BD Series, our latest release for the Smart-FLEXWAVE, provides safety requirements for collaborative robots with dual sensor systems. The Smart-FLEXWAVE is TÜV SÜD Safety Certified, helping to reduce time and costs involved in acquiring these safety compliances.

Nidec Drive Technology Develops New Precision Cycloidal Reducer, KINEX

Nidec Drive Technology Corporation announces their new product development, the Next Generation Nidec KINEX high precision cycloidal reducer, expanding their lineup of precision-control reducers.

KINEX, a highly rigid precision cycloidal reducer composed of inscribed planetary gears, can be installed as a servo motor reducer for any application, such as the joints of mid and large-size multi-joint robots and SCARA robots (Selective Compliance Assembly Robot Arms). KINEX utilizes Nidec’s technology to be low-noise and maintenance-free. The KINEX EH Series Type N is a central solid shaft type cycloidal reducer that is lightweight and compact and the KINEX EH Series Type C is a hollow shaft type large size reducer that provides a pass through for cable or hose application solutions.

The combination of KINEX and our current FLEXWAVE product technology, machine designers can enjoy a wide-ranging lineup of high precision gear reducers frequently used in a wide variety of applications such as robot joints, machine tools, semiconductor, and many more.

New Economy Gear Reducers

PR Series Economy Planetary Gear Reducers

PR Series is the latest generation economy planetary gear reducers from NIDEC Drive Technology Corporation. The PR Series redefine the economy planetary gear reducer segment by featuring helical cut gearing and a robust internal structure. To date, this has not been accomplished by any other manufacturer. NIDEC DTC makes it possible through modular design philosophy and high-volume production capabilities. Our customers benefit from a cost-effective, flexible, reliable design that can be adapted into a wide range of servo and stepper motor axes.

The PR Series variants feature industry-standard output mounting geometry. The PRE Series offers a round output flange with tapped holes, while the PRF Series offers a B5 style square flange with through-holes. Frame sizes 062-160 are available with ratios from 3:1 to 100:1, covering the most common range of servomotor applications. At ≤ 8 arc-minutes of backlash, the PR products offer class-appropriate accuracy to handle various application requirements.

By utilizing the same motor mounting designs used by our VR products, our PR Series tap into the most comprehensive collection of standard off-the-shelf adapter plates in the industry.
